the 713+ was usable on the network immediately after the drives formatted. Quick Setup instructions were great! Best service from a new piece of computer equipment ever. Just put the drives in, power up, and follow the instructions. It tells you when it is ready.

Kudos to the engineers that developed this line of products.

There are only two negatives that I've come across.

1) The unit will only accommodate the single expansion option. Although the 5 additional bays "should" be enough, it would be nice to have an option at something larger or to chain.

2) The "locks" on the bays is laughable. Either "why bother" or put a real key and lock in place.

I'm quite happy with this unit. It is a bit pricey compared to other NAS options, but sometimes you get what you pay for.
